About Vellum
Open apps made everyone visible to everyone. Vellum is a private club and starts the other way round: you are invisible until you choose who may see you.

1. Why Vellum exists
Most open apps optimise for attention: an open inbox, endless swiping, and the burden of filtering falls on the person receiving the messages — usually a woman. Vellum was built for people who want to meet someone real nearby without being exposed, harassed or spammed on the way.
It is a premium private club with strong defaults: 21+ only, verification before contact, approximate distance never an exact location, and an AI layer that reads for scams and harassment in real time.
2. How it works
- Invisible by default. Women decide when and to whom they become visible; a profile can be photo-first, blurred, or revealed only after a match.
- Verified before reaching anyone. Phone or email, a selfie that matches the photos, and — for men — a Respect Check, before a first message can be sent.
- Requests, not an inbox. Incoming interest is filtered and ranked; nobody has to wade through a pile of messages.
- Nearby, never exact. Your position is rounded to a coarse cell on your own phone; the exact spot never leaves it.
- AI on your side. Messages and photos are checked as they happen; risky drafts get an “Are you sure?” before they are sent.
3. What we will not do
- We will not sell or share your data for advertising.
- We will not show your exact location, and we will not store it.
- We will not let anyone contact you before they have been verified.
- We will not keep you scrolling for its own sake — the goal is a real meeting, safely.
